Sequel is done… as far as the writing of it is concerned. Now its onto 65,752 words to edit and proof-read. Believe it or not, I wrote my vampire sequel in one week and three days! Whew! Now its on to something else not so, eh, super interesting. I do enjoy crocheting during the winter months whenever I can make the time. I also tried my hand at making fox fur earrings and a small fur pendant. But…they turned out resembling fly fishing lures or something weird instead:
Now, this ‘re-purposed’ real red fox fur was obtained from an antique fox fur collar. Although the collar is still quite functional, I thought a pair of earrings and a pendant for myself might look okay so I gave it a try.
And about crocheting: I also made two fashion scarves crocheting them the difficult (lengthwise) way instead of doing extremely short rows. I also made a few wrist wraps and whatnot. The yarn I make it out of comes second-hand and the colors are whatever I happen to purchase at the time. So for now, my plate’s pretty full as well. I’m also helping a fellow friend and author co-write and proof read.
And when it’s not my own creations….well, my thought process goes sluggish. I can, however, get into any ‘crazy lady’ writing mode when its my own universe and set of characters and their dramas, and when I clack the keyboard, better leave me to my passion. I do get annoyed, and other times, I find myself colliding with that ‘writer’s block’ invisible wall. Eventually I find that one night’s worth of sleep and occasionally sleeping in does the trick.
Another useful thing I found that helps when writing for hours at a time is two things: frequent breaks and a day or two of rest. That’s it. Don’t let your mind obsess, worry, or think about how or what your characters are doing/have done/ will do, etc. And helpful hint #3: comfort food/ snacks. For me healthy foods like celery, sliced oranges, seltzer water and if I can squeeze one in, La Croix apricot-flavored sparking seltzer water. Not only does that particular seltzer water taste good, it’s too darn expensive! Ah, well and then before I know it, its back to the old spiral notebook. It always helps to keep a paper trail of my word count, ideas, plots, characters, relationships, universes, time eras, etc. Otherwise it would be mind-boggling.
So, it’s on to my crafting ideas until my sequel can find the time to be edited, proof-read, filled out, and hopefully I can bypass all the fluff and just knock it off with a lengthy word count. Readers don’t like to read fluff.
